Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pilot arc, and why does it matter?
A pilot arc ignites in the air between the tip and the metal, so the arc is already burning when you reach the workpiece. Rust, paint, and mill scale that would stall a contact-start torch simply do not matter — you start the cut anywhere on the surface.
How thick can the CUT-50 Pro cut?
On mild steel: clean cuts up to 1/2 inch and severance cuts up to 3/4 inch. On thinner stock, cuts are faster and cleaner with less edge dressing.
Does it need an air compressor?
Yes — any standard shop compressor works. The air regulator and gas hose are included, and the built-in display shows live pressure in PSI or MPa so you can dial it in without a separate gauge.
Which consumables does it use?

How is it different from the CUT-50?
