SSimder MMA-200XS Stick Welder

A 3.55-pound stick welder that runs on 110V household power — 120A of honest output for thick, rusty, painted steel, small enough to live in a toolbox drawer.
Stick is the oldest, most forgiving arc process: scratch, strike, weld. The MMA-200XS puts a current dial and 120A behind that arc, weighs less than a cordless drill battery pack, and comes with the electrode holder and ground clamp already in the box.
Stick Welding. Anywhere There Is an Outlet.
No gas, no wire, no shield to set up. Rod, clamp, dial — and the dirtiest steel on the property gets an honest bead.
Featherweight portability
3.55 lb / 3.4 × 5.1 × 7.5 in
Small enough for a saddlebag or toolbox. Carry it to the fence line, the barn, the job site van — it goes where the repair is, not the other way around.
Honest arc on dirty steel
Rust, paint & galvanized
Stick electrodes dig through surface contamination that stops beginner MIG arcs. Farm repairs, trailers, gates — this is the process that does not care.
Simple current dial
Set it and weld
One dial sets the amperage for the rod in the holder. No menus, no synergy screens — the way stick was meant to work.

Built for
- ✓Budget repairs — the cheapest honest arc in the SSimder line.
- ✓Portable work — 3.55 lb goes anywhere a toolbox goes.
- ✓Beginners — scratch-start stick is the fastest arc process to learn.
- ✓Farm & fence fixes — rods bite through rust and paint.
Not built for
- ✕MIG, TIG, or aluminum — this is a stick-only machine. See the MIG-140S or SD-4050 Pro for more processes.
- ✕Production welding — 120A at this size is a repair machine, not a fab-shop workhorse.
- ✕Precision thin sheet — stick on thin material is fighting the process; flux MIG does it better.

Frequently Asked Questions
What welding rods does it use?
Common mild-steel stick electrodes. SSimder stocks a 10 lb E7018 welding rod pack that pairs with the included electrode holder — low-hydrogen rod for strong, clean beads on structural and repair work.
Can it weld aluminum?
No — the MMA-200XS is a stick-only machine, and stick cannot run aluminum properly. For aluminum, see the SD-4050 Pro (Pulse MIG) or the TIG-250AC (AC TIG).
Does it run on 110V household power?
Yes — 120A output on a standard 110V household circuit. A 220V conversion cord is included in the box for markets where shop circuits are 220V.
How heavy is it, really?
3.55 lb (1.6 kg) — about the weight of a full water bottle. Dimensions are 3.4 × 5.1 × 7.5 inches, so it stores in a toolbox drawer.
Is stick welding good for beginners?
Stick is the most forgiving arc process to learn: scratch the rod like a match, hold a gap, drag a bead. There is no gas to set up and no wire tension to tune — the MMA-200XS adds only a current dial.
What warranty does it carry?
Every SSimder welder carries a 3-year warranty — the same policy across the line, spelled out on our warranty policy page.
